Unholy Cult is the fifth album by Immolation, it was released on Listenable Records in 2002.
It
is the band's last album to feature Alex Hernandez on drums, his
brutality is still amazing, his drumming is really coherent with the
rest of the music, and his technicality deviates your concentration to
him!
Bill Taylor (ex-Angel Corpse) joins the picture, replacing
guitarist Tom Wilkinson, you can see what severe impact he has caused
to the guitar riffing, What is noticed is more variety which adds
richness to the music, the riffs raise within you a lot of questions of
fear, truth, and hypocrisy, though extremely violent at times, and very
catchy once you get to understand their complexity.
It is really
hard to beat a masterpiece like "Close To A World Below". This album is
usually given minimal attention between the other Immolation releases.
It shows a transcendence from "Close To a World Below" to Immolation's
present style, the transcendence moves forward in "Harnessing Ruin";
both should be seriously listened to and given attention and focus, if
one wants to understand the progression, that is Immolation's music.
The Lebanese ambassadors of doom, apathy, and woe recently returned from Tunisia where they headlined the country's 5th "Festival Mediterraneen de la Guitare" on Monday the 24th of March 2008.
The band performed along with some of the biggest names in Tunisia and received a great feedback as the band's mastermind JP has informed us.
The majority of the scene have been awaiting the chosen date of the
BTTR concert for a reason or another. The fans haven't been to a big
Metal concert since the last Rock Fest, the bands and a few of the fans
wanted to check out the sound system and the difference RockRing (the
team behind BTTR) are to bring to the scene, and a current
(Anti-RockRing, and those who share their thoughts but wouldn't want to
join the path) wanted to see whether this would be a failure of an
attempt or not.
